In the sixties I travelled to Europe and saw many of the great European masterpieces; this gave me a deeper appreciation of composition. However, family and teaching commitments meant I did not choose to become a professional artist until 1990. I have received a number of regional art prizes and one of my paintings, "Edge of the Scrub" represents the Tully area in Queensland's Parliament House. My work has been shown twice in the art magazine, "International Artist", once as a finalist in a landscape competition. I have also been a finalist in "Australian Artist" and been included in "Pastel Artist International".
My goal is now to introduce my prints to a wider public and to introduce
viewers to my beloved Ravenshoe. Come and visit
us.

My love is to go bush and experience the peace, the mystery, or the excitement of places of power. Living in Ravenshoe gives me access to the beautiful Millstream, with its rapids and falls, and a wide variety of landscapes in the Rainforest and Savannah hinterland. |
Buddy SmithBuddy Smith " I love the bush and Aussie timbers. The carvings I like to do combine the things we use everyday with the little creatures that live in the bush. I like to carve elastic sided boots with a Bell Miner looking inside to see if it would make a good nesting site, or maybe an anvil carved out of a mahogany burl with a Red Capped Robin perched on the smithy's hammer. Or a kookaburra sitting on the end of an axe handle with the axehead stuck in the top of a tree stump. Or a row of Firetails sitting on the top of a Southern Cross Windmill tail. And if the little critters are striking a comical pose, all the better." Buddy's work may be seen at Win's Gallery or you can e-mail him direct at smiles@tpg.com.au |

Raina HamHer presentation and gift pieces feature Australia's magnificent frillnecked lizards, our famous koalas as well as delightful tree frogs, possums, and beautiful dancing brolgas (Australian cranes). Even Raina's fine jewellery reflects nature in minature. Sometimes egrets in full flight can be seen in her pendants and tiny golden figures are often featured in her wedding band and engagement ring sets. Raina's work can be found in collections around the world. The Queensland Goverment presented the Prime Minister of Japan with one of her sculptures during his official visit to Brisbane's Expo 88. Other notable people who have Raina's silver and gold in their collections include Magaret Thatcher, Lee Kuan Yew, the President of Italy and the Governor of California. |
