The Blencoe Falls ExperienceThis year Win made a determined attempt “to be an artist again”. With the support of friends, who kept open the gallery, Win went back to Blencoe Falls, a remote tourist attraction about 100km from Mt.Garnet. Blencoe Creek flows into the Herbert River Gorge. From the lookouts there are magnificent views of the Herbert Gorge and the Blencoe Creek Falls. Morning is the magic time; just before dawn the shining river is the star, then as the sun rises the patterns of light and shadow subtly changes. By eight o’clock the details are clear but the dramatic patterns of light and shade fade into day. Late afternoon brings another aspect with subtle light changes until the light fades and only the sounding waterfall remains. Win made two trips to Blencoe in late April and early May when the valley was still bright from the wet season. These fourteen paintings are her impression of this amazing place. |
