Winsome Board was born in Ingham, North Queensland, in 1940. She began painting at the age of eleven, but a teaching career and family commitments meant she waited until 1990 to become a fully professional.
After several successful exhibitions she established Win’s Gallery Art and Woodcraft in Ravenshoe, on the beautiful Evelyn Tableland, two hours drive from Cairns. Winsome has relocated the gallery to her home, 2 Ethel Street, in November 2018, focusing on her art. Her love for this small town and its beautiful surrounding countryside is very apparent in her paintings but she is also attracted to wilderness and to less frequented places of power.
Recently Win has published five books using the Blurb template; four in the 7”x7” format, and an illustrated autobiography “The Light of the North” (12”x12”) telling the story of her painting journey. These are available at the Gallery.

Her work has been shown in four art magazines. She was a finalist in competitions run by “Australian Artist” and “International Artist” and was a feature artist in “Artist’s Palette”. Troy Dann included one of her paintings in his book, Outback Australia. She has a painting in the Queensland Parliament House and her work is in private collections in Australia and overseas.
